Books

As this site (and my research) continues, these are the books that I've collected.

The Lotus Book (Series Two) - The Complete History Of Lotus Cars (ISBN 1902351002) by William Taylor from Coterie Press Ltd, 1999. This book has information and pictures of every Lotus creation from the Mark 1 to the Type 115 (aka Elise GT1, 1997). I believe a new revision may be out soon.

The Lotus Book Collectables - The Complete Collection Of Lotus Memorabilia (ISBN 1902351010) by William Taylor from Coterie Press Ltd, 2000. This book covers various Lotus collectables from the Mark 1 to the Type 118 (aka the evasive Lotus M250). I believe a new revision may be out soon.

I bought both these books in a collector's edition box

Theme Lotus Theme Lotus Theme Lotus (First Edition) (ISBN 0900549408) by Doug Nye is a book I found which covers Lotus F1 and Indy cars from the Lotus 12 in 1957 to the Lotus 79 in 1978. It's packed with info, and is were I got a lot of the race results and car/chassis specifications. It was first published by Motor Racing Publications Ltd in 1978.

Theme Lotus (Second Edition) (ISBN 0947981098) by Doug Nye from Motor Racing Publications Ltd in 1986. This is an updated version of the first edition, and now covers the history of Lotus up to and including the 1986 season. My copy is signed by the author and is number 19 out of 100.
Lotus Racing Cars 1968-2000 (ISBN 0750925531) by John Tipler and from Sutton Publishing, 2000. As the sub-title states, it covers Lotus' domination of F1 in the late 1960s, through the technical innovations of the 1970s and then the slow decline (with the slight exception of the Senna years) through the 1980s until the end of the team in 1994. The revival refers to the rise of the Lotus Elise as a race car. I also have the previous book Lotus Racing Cars 1948-1968. Lotus Racing Cars
Lotus - A Formula One Team History Lotus - A Formula One Team History (ISBN 1852238038) by Bruce Grant-Braham and from The Crowood Press, 1994. This book charts the history of Team Lotus from 1958 and finishing (fortunately) at the 1993 season. It also has detailed information of every Lotus race entry (Team Lotus, its aliases and private entries) and the spec of each car. Very handy for my research!

Team Lotus In Formula 1 Team Lotus In Formula 1 (ISBN 9783940004826) by Rainer W Schlegelmilch & Hartmut Lehbrink from earBOOKS, 2011. As the title suggests this book covers Team Lotus in Fromula 1 from 1958 to 1994 and then Lotus Racing in 2010 (but not when it was Team Lotus in 2011, which is strange given the name of the book!). Whilst it does have some very good photographs it's not the most in-depth coverage. This book also contains 2 CDs of podcasts and documentaries covering Lotus Racing's 2010 season.
Autosport File - Lotus (ISBN 060055662) from Temple Press. This book is a collection of articles from Autosport that includes: Season Reviews 1976-1987, The Chapman Legacy, Peter Warr, Gerard Ducarouge, Lotus Drivers 1976-1987 and a chassis by chassis guide. Autocourse 1978-79 (ISBN 0905138058) edited by Mike Kettlewell from what is now known as Hazleton Publishing. Arguably the best place to find information on a particular year of F1. This copy covers the glorious 1978 season. I'm quite pleased to have got this in good condition via eBay for less than the usual list price, when someone actually has a copy for sale that is. I also have Autocourse 1996-97, a signed David Coulthard Red Bull Racing edition of Autocourse 2006-7, Autocourse 2008-9 and Autocourse 2009-10. Autocourse 1978-79

Unlike the authorised biography (above) this book shows the darker side of Colin Chapman and how, if it wasn't for his untimely death, his drive for success and unauthodox business methods would have been his downfall.
Mario Andretti World Champion (ISBN 0600394697) by Nigel Roebuck and Mario Andretti from Hamlyn, 1979. Similarly to the Colin Chapman biography this is written by one of F1's top journalists.
